Why BFK?

Bergen Philharmonic Choir (BFK) is one of the best choirs in Bergen

We have rehearsed long and hard together with our fantastic director, Håkon Matti Skrede, to be who and where we are today. A varied program of demanding works has given us the opportunity to develop immensely, to the level where we were nominated for a recent Grammy award and were invited to perform at Edinburghs International Music Festival in August 2017. We have been showcased on the French Music channel Mezzo and featured on many well received recordings. In Bergen’s philharmonic orchestra we have undoubtedly a fantastic collaborator. And no concert hall is better than our own Grieghallen.

BFK sings the bigger works just as well as the small

As we are Bergen Philharmonic’s regular choir, we participate in the parts of their program that involve choruses. That means we can drop in on the last two minutes of a work, sing backstage at an opera, or drive an entire concert, for example Haydns Skapelsen. Such variety is what makes BFK what it is today: an exciting choir with a truely extensive repertoire!

BFK sings with the greats

We have the privilege to sing under the baton of truely masterful conductors, like the orchestra’s current principal Edward Gardner, honorary former principal Andrew Litton, Sir Andrew Davis and many others. And with the fabulous soloists from Norway and around the world chosen to sing with us, it’s no wonder we ourselves aim for new heights.

If you would like to be part of a excellent amateur choir with big ambitions, perhaps we’re the choir for you.

In our upcoming program: Mozarts Requiem, both Othello and Requiem by Guiseppe Verdi, and Grande Messe des Morts by Berlioz as the opening concert of Festspill 2018!
